"The mind is everything. What you think, you become"
-Guatana Buddha
The instagram post reminded me that who we are is already enough, and that becoming “better” doesn’t really mean becoming someone else. Too often, we bend ourselves backwards to fit standards that were never meant for us which degrades our individuality in the process. Comparison becomes a quiet habit we often succumb to as we measure our success, worth and even our happiness against others. We forget that no two journeys are meant to be the same. As the saying goes, comparison is the thief of joy, and the more we compare ourselves the further we drift from ourselves. Living in that mindset it slowly clouds the mind, replacing confidence with doubt. When we choose to honor our individuality instead of competing with it, our state of mind shifts. We stop chasing versions of ourselves that don’t really exist and begin caring for the one that does exist. True growth comes from accepting who you are, trusting your journey and allowing yourself to live fully without apology or comparison.
